Casey and I began planning a potential collaboration in 2019. She found files to an old demo titled 'Name It' which featured recordings of her vocals, guitar, piano, and other textures. It was a fun experience getting to take these stems and see if I could build off of them. I chopped up her vocals, and wrote some synth melodies and chords, and eventually the song had a dreamy dance pop feel. Casey re-recorded her vocals in Toronto to the new structure, and we finished the song earlier this year. I loved Casey's album 'Psychic Materials' so much and always wanted to work with her. I'm grateful the opportunity finally came and that we could make this lovely song happen.
